Overcoming Life's Struggles

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.

James 1:2-3

A young gardener watched a butterfly trying to break out of its chrysalis. He wanted to help. He took a pair of scissors and clipped off the tip of the chrysalis. The butterfly emerged without a struggle. Good?
No, bad. The butterfly’s body became swollen and its wings shriveled. It could not fly, and it died. Creating a struggle for the butterfly was God’s way of forcing the fluid from the body into the wings so that they would be strong enough to fly.
When there is a struggle in your life, talk to God. God cares so much more for you than for his butterflies.

Lord, you know my struggles. Help me grow stronger through the struggles. Teach me patience and endurance. Lift me up on eagle’s wings to see your greater vision. Amen.

Reflect: Look for ways to turn your struggles into blessings.
