Just Four Hours

Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:4

Thunderstorms raced through our neighborhood the day of my daughter’s high school graduation party. The pouring rain pounded relentlessly. Our house and garage were way too small to accommodate guests.
My intense plea for just four hours of sunshine burst forth, despite the all-day forecast of unceasing storms. I knew God was in control of all things at all times. At noon, the rain stopped, and the sun shone. The guests arrived at 1 o’clock. The celebration occurred.
As the final guests departed at 4 o’clock, the clouds gathered, and once again, rain fell. God saw our earthly need and bestowed his blessing. He alone could satisfy our need and showed us his greater glory.

Thank you, Lord, for daily showering us with your unlimited grace and mercy. Amen.

Reflect: Think of a time when, against all odds, you were blessed with God’s response.
