Always Exciting

…his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning.

Lamentations 3:22-23

Possibly you have assisted in a community bird watch to number the Red-headed Woodpeckers. At watch’s end you may experience disappointment. Not one was sighted. Then excitement ramps up as you recount sightings of red-tailed hawks, an osprey, and even a bald eagle!
You may have spent time inventorying your life, attempting to recall a specific mercy of God. How wonderful to stop and list the countless other mercies our Lord has granted you. His mercies are new every morning! With St. Paul, we proclaim, “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice” (Philippians 4:4). Celebrate our Savior’s faithfulness!

Lord, Forgive us for our imperfect memory of your constant love. May we celebrate your mercies, which are new each day of our lives. Amen.

Ponder: Relax in your quiet spot and recall five occasions God gifted you his mercy yesterday.
