Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.
It was a bit of a shock! The traditional Christmas creche in my office displayed a headless Wise Man. His head was lying at his feet! A spot of glue resolved the dilemma.
As we prepare to celebrate our Lord Jesus’ arrival in Bethlehem, we may feel so frazzled that we fear losing our mind (thankfully, not our head). Let’s forgo the multilayered human traditions associated with Advent and Christmas. Rather, let us pause each day for a calming moment to read and ponder the Scriptures associated with the birth of Christ. God’s Word becomes the “glue” joyfully joining us to our Savior’s presence. Now with a clear head and happy heart, we celebrate Jesus’ birth.
Jesus, help open our treasures to you, and our lives to service and praise, now and always. Amen.
