The Morning Star

...until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

2 Peter 1:19b

When the planet Venus is on the opposite side of the sun, it leads the sun, traveling across the sky. Venus, that bright gem, will rise in the morning a few hours before the sun. Then, as the sun rises, the sky brightens and Venus fades away. This is Venus, the morning star.
The morning star gives most of its “light” just before the break of dawn. Throughout the Bible, Christ is referred to as the Morning Star. He is the one who fills the darkness of the world with his light. He is the one whose light is about to shine forever, making all wrongs right, with the creation of the new heaven and new
earth.

Pray: Brightest and best of the stars of the morning, dawn on our darkness and lend us your aid. Amen.

Reflect: Go outside before dawn, watch the morning star rise, and think of the coming of Christ.
