The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light...
Epiphany is celebrated in Christian churches on January 6, twelve days after Christmas. The brightness of a star led the Magi to the Christ Child, whom they acknowledged as the Son of God. The focus of the Epiphany season is in revealing who Jesus is, both true God and true man.
The star that led these men to the Christ child represents the light that God has shined on all of us, illuminating the darkness to reveal Jesus as the true Savior of the world. We were all walking around in the darkness of sin, until Jesus, the light was revealed to us. He is our great light, the light that the darkness cannot extinguish.
