It’s Lent Again

“It feels like spring,” she said. “It must be time for Lent again.” “Lent” comes from an old English word for spring. For most people, spring is a time to focus on spring flowers and outdoor activities.

For those of us who observe the 40 days of Lent for the renewing of our faith, this is a season for us to focus — not on crocuses, but on the cross of Christ. We celebrate the blessings our Lord secured for us on Calvary’s cross, where he paid in full for our sins and earned for us the gift of eternal life.

People often give up something for Lent such as chocolate, soda, or alcohol. Why not focus instead on giving of ourselves for the benefit of Christ’s mission through our winsome words, caring actions, and sacrificial gifts.
