Take It to the Lord in Prayer

... do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

Philippians 4:6

Oscar tightened the last screw on the storm shutters protecting his windows and proclaimed, “Now all

there is left to do is pray.” When everything else that is humanly possible is done, we Christians have another resource to lean on — prayer — not as a last resort in a storm, but as a comfort in distress. God promises to hear the prayers of his people and to answer those prayers.

The hymn says it well, “Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged, take it to the Lord in prayer.” What a comfort it is that God knows us and hears every prayer that we utter. Thanks be to God!
