Memory
Being of a certain age, remembering is not IF, but WHEN we remember. That word occurs frequently in Scripture — almost 250 times. People and events in our lives are part of that memory ... some we would like
to forget and others we hate to forget. Perhaps we also remember the words of our Lord Jesus after a woman anointed his head with an alabaster ointment (Mark 14:9, Matthew 26:13).
We also may think, “I wish I could forget something I did or did not do.” We know them as sins of omission and commission, especially when we hear the words of Solomon regarding righteousness. We know all too well that our righteousness is as filthy rags/a polluted garment (Isaiah 64:6). We also know that Jesus is our Savior and are seen as righteous in his sight. Thanks be to God!
