Independence Day

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

2 Corinthians 3:17

On this 4th day of July, the citizens of the United States celebrate a day of “independence.” We declared that we intended to be free of the tyranny of a monarchy from across the ocean. It was something we had to fight for. It came with a significant price. But ultimately, freedom was indeed achieved.

Each of us stands under the darkest cloud of another tyranny — sin. It sentences us to eternal doom.

But there is another even more important “Day of Independence.” Because of God’s plan of sacrifice on Good Friday and the ultimate victory of Easter, we are made free. And this time we didn’t have to fight for

it. It was done for us through Jesus by the grace of the

Father. Truly Amazing Grace!
