Our Discerning Lord

What are our thoughts when we respond joyfully? Our encouraging attitude brings excitement to the group and fills all with enthusiasm. We may hear, “We really appreciate your presence among us.”

Discernment is detected even before speaking. The gift of anticipation of what is coming next makes us feel that the living and active God is present. Jesus’ redemptive life, death, and resurrection completes our joy.

When Jesus walked with the disciples, he knew their past, filled their presence with his discerning love, and instilled in them a hope that will not disappoint them. This discerning power is what is needed for prayer and to focus on our eternal gift. Without God’s promises in our lives, we cannot have joy and hope.
