Desparate Times

“... call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”

Psalm 50:15

Recently, I was in a crisis, trying to seek help, yet every avenue I explored was a dead end. I felt helpless, afraid, desperate! All I could think to do in the moment was to cry out to God — loudly — for help. God delivered, just as he promised. Grateful and in awe,

I cried out to God again — loudly — in praise and thanksgiving.

I called to God in desperation, but it should not

have been a desperate measure, rather, the obvious

first choice. We can always trust God to help us in our trouble. After all, he went to desperate measures to help us in our desperate situation. He sent his son, Jesus, to suffer and die to deliver us from our sin. Because of this great act of love, we can have confidence in his promise and, in desperate times, call on him first!
