Compassionate Listening

Problem-solving is my nature. So, when a relative, friend, or acquaintance comes to me with an issue, I want to resolve it. If I’m presented with a challenge, I focus on meeting it. Sometimes my approach brings positive results and helps. Other times, my tenaciousness simply exhausts and overwhelms. As I get older, I better understand that.

Now, instead of responding in a flurry of action, I take a breath and listen. Wholly. Lovingly.

In doing so, I’ve discovered a divine gift: the blessing of compassionate listening. It gives others the space to be heard and connect to the Lord’s best solutions. It also grants me greater calm and understanding.
