Stay With Us

Such a simple question; such a profound answer! When Andrew and John first met Jesus, it was natural that they wanted to spend more time with the Teacher. They had no idea how their lives were about to change. The Greek word (meno) for “staying” can also be translated as “abiding,” “dwelling,” or “remaining.” Over time Christ would come to dwell in their hearts and minds, a continual, abiding presence leading to their robust witness to the Risen Lord.

And so, Jesus stays with each of us, through his Word, the gift of his sacraments, and the conversations with fellow believers. He dwells with his persistent, seeking, patient, boundless love for each of us. And this relentless love is eternal. What an amazing, stabilizing strength is ours through faith in our God!
