The Lord Gladdened my Soul

Current events swirled about my head early one morning as I sat on the deck to read my devotion. Suddenly, a mother deer and two fawns (still with spots) walked near to eat grass. Then, the sprinklers came on. The babies jumped and frolicked in every direction as sprinkles of water confused them. I was filled with laughter and smiles as the mother deer watched them play.
I returned to my devotion — Psalm 86. The words of verse 4 “gladden the soul of your servant” and “I lift up my soul to you” were new, fresh, and alive to me. This moment reminded me to enjoy God’s gifts, be content in what He has provided for me, and let the frustrations of current events not overwhelm me.
