Homeward Bound

“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.”

John 14:3

As a young adult, I set goals and planned for the years ahead; and worked toward a fruitful secure future. I didn’t think much about the end of my earthly life. But now I understand that my days are numbered, and I focus more on going home to Jesus. I imagine him picking me up and carrying me to secure pastures, like when he carried the lost lamb home. The Bible reminds me Jesus is preparing for my homecoming and he will come and bring me to him. God has been transforming me, his forgiven child, from infancy to the present and going forward, through baptism, his word, sacraments, and trials, as he and I get ready for my homecoming.
